TORONTO: A Muslim school in east end of Toronto was smeared with anti-Muslim graffiti on Monday night.

The graffiti `F– U Muslims’ on the wall of Scarborough’s Muslim school Wali ul Asr on Torrance Road was first noticed by city Councillor Glenn De Baeremaeker.

Deputy mayor and area Councillor Glenn De Baeremaeker, who represents Scarborough Centre, said he noticed the graffiti when he was out in the area.

“It’s disgusting, it’s not who we are, and I can’t imagine a five-year-old or 10-year-old innocent child coming to school and parents having to walk past this type of hurtful, racist graffiti. Not acceptable,’’ the councillor told CP24 news channel.

He said they contacted the city staff to remove it before the students come to school on Tuesday morning.

De Baeremaeker said these comments don’t reflect views of the majority of people of the area, adding that he would push for more funding for security cameras.

Toronto mayor John Tory tweeted, “The anti-Muslim graffiti on Wali ul Asr is the kind of hateful act & language that has absolutely no place in Toronto. This hatred is unacceptable at any time but it is disturbing someone would choose to do this during Ramadan.’’
