Brampton Indo-Canadian charged in Karol Bagh Plaza death

BRAMPTON: Avtar Dhami, 38, of Brampton has been arrested and charged with the 16th homicide of 2017 in the Peel Region on New Year’s eve.

The 34 year-old victim Gurpreet Dhami was the cousin of the accused. He was struck by Avtar Dhami’s pick-up truck early Sunday morning in the parking lot of Brampton Karol Bagh Plaza on Torbram Road and Peter Robertson Boulevard.

Peel Police rushed the victim to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Dhammi was arrested and charged with first degree murder. He appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton December 31. He will appear in court on January 18.
