MUMBAI: It is not uncommon in Bollywood that struggling actresses often have to succumb to film producers and directors to give them sexual favours to get a film.
Now Punjabi babe Surveen Chawla, who progressed from regional cinema into Bollywood with the film Hate Story 2, has come out with her own share of this unsavoury experience in the film world.
The actress, who will be next seen in Leena Yadav’s film Parched, tells a national daily that she was asked by a south Indian Tamil film director for sexual favours in her earlier days in south Indian films.
Surveen said the director, who couldn’t speak Hindi, approached her through a friend to offer her a film with the caveat that she will have to sleep with him. And that sleeping arrangement was to last for the whole shooting duration of the film.
But the actress said she refused to succumb.
Surveen also related an incident during her struggling days when she was thrown out by her landlady as she would return home some time after 2 am after her TV serial shoots.
