NEW DELHI: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has compared Narendra Modi to legendary King Prithviraj Chauhan who was the last Hindu to rule Delhi before the advent of Muslim rule with his capture and execution by invader Shahabuddin Muhammad Ghori in 1192.

Praising Modi, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal said on Saturday said Modi would restore the past glory of `Hindutva rule’ by constructing a Ram Temple in Ayodhya, imposing a uniform civil code and banning cow slaughter.

He said people yearned for the return of Hindu rule of the 12th century. “After Prithviraj (Chauhan), it is now that Hindutva has got the reins of Bharat,” the VHP leader leader said.

Singhal said Modi has got a strong mandate and he should help build the temple. “Mazboot sarkar bani hai, mazbooti se (mandir) banega.”The VHP leader said, “The uniform civil code is not only a key to the fundamental unity and integrity of Bharat, but its implementation is also binding in the light of the Supreme Court’s decree. Legal prohibition of horizontal religious conversions is a necessity to ensure peace and well-being of the society.”
