Shane Watson didn’t score even a single run off the first nine balls he faced in the Indian Premier League final at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.

But the Australian batsman went on to create history by hitting the highest score (117 not out) in the IPL final on Sunday night.

The unbeaten knock by the Chennai Super Kings opener surpassed Wridhiman Saha’s 115 (not out) against Kings XI Punjab in the final of the IPL in 2014.

This was Shane Watson’s second century of the IPL 2018. The fiery Aussie took just 57 balls to score the runs which included eight sixes.

Thanks to Watson, Chennai Super Kings surpassed Sunrisers Hyderabad’s score of 179, with nine balls to spare and lift the IPL trophy for the third time.

Sachin Tendulkar, the God of cricket, was among those to praise Shane Watson for his great knock.
