University of Toronto ranked 16th globally in research

TORONTO: The University of Toronto (U of T) has been ranked 16th among the world’s top research universities by the 2022 edition of the Best Global Universities Rankings.

The ranking done by The U.S. News & World Report involved 1,750 universities in 90 countries

The University of British Columbia is ranked 35th and McGill University 51st.

Among public universities, U of T is now ranked fifth in North America and seventh globally.

In 13 subjects, U of T has been ranked among the top 10 universities globally as follows: 

– Third in surgery

– Fourth in endocrinology and metabolism

– Fifth in cardiac and cardiovascular systems, clinical medicine and oncology 

– Eighth in psychiatry/psychology 

– Ninth in arts and humanities, gastroenterology and hepatology, and molecular biology and genetics, public, environmental and occupational health, radiology, nuclear medicine and medical imaging

– Tenth in biology and biochemistry and social sciences and public health.

U of T ranks first in Canada in 30 of the 43 subject areas covered in the ranking.
