MUMBAI: The husband of Pakistani actress Veena Malik, 33, who has ended her three-year-old marriage with him, is begging her to take him back.
Veena filed for Khula (the wife’s right to demand dissolution of marriage) in January in a Lahore court when her husband Asad Khattak was away. The court issued its decree in her favour as Khattak didn’t appear in court. The couple have 90 days to reconcile.
Veena reportedly wanted to return to showbiz but her husband and his family were opposed to her decision.
The two married in December 2013 and have two children.
Speaking to a TV channel, Asad Khattak told Veena, “I still love you and our children a lot.’’
Apologizing to Veena, he said, “Veena, I am really sorry if I have hurt you or I bothered you in any way.’’
He said he was out of the country when all this happened. “We will work out and try to clear our misunderstandings. We will soon be together again,’’ Asad said.
He said, “Veena is a good wife, a good mother and a good friend.”
He said he speaks to her daily and “we are good friends.”
However, Veena’s lawyer Ali Ahmed confirmed the court has already ended their marriage by issuing its decree in her favour on January 31.
