BRAMPTON:A 23-year-old young woman who was kidnapped from a residence in the area of Mississauga Road and Mayfield Road in Brampton on Sunday morning, walked into 22 Division headquarters in Brampton alone at about 7.30 pm on Monday.

Police said Salina Ouk walked in and identified herself. “Officers have spoken very briefly with her but there hasn’t been some in depth interview that has occurred as of yet,” said Const. Heather Cannon.

The woman was kidnapped by Kwami Garwood, 21, on early Sunday morning from a residence on Adventura Road in Brampton.

According to police, its officers responded to a disturbance at the residence just before 3 am when a man was reported screaming and banging on the door of the residence.

When a woman was heard screaming from inside the residence, police entered the house and found that the screams were coming from the garage.

When officers entered the garage, they found a man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with a woman in the back seat. After an interaction with the man, police fired at the vehicle which managed to flee.

“At this time, it is not known whether the man was struck by gunfire,” the Special Investigation Unit, which has taken over the investigation, said in a release.

Police said the two are known to each other.

The vehicle in which the suspect fled with the victim is a Black Honda Civic with Ontario Licence plates BZHE 247.

Since Kwami Garwood is believed to be armed, police are asking anyone that sees the suspect or the vehicle, to contact 9-1-1 immediately and not approach him. The video below shows the suspect escaping in the vehicle with his victim:
