NEW YORK: An Indian American Swami in Torrance in California has been arrested for sexually assaulting his female clients. The women came to him for spiritual healing.
Gokula Nanda, 62, claimed himself to be a swami with expertise in fortune-telling and spiritual healing. He offered these services at his store in the Hari-Om India Market in Santa Clarita.
Nanda subjected women to sex and sexual assaults telling them that these were part of his spiritual rituals. He would tell the women that `sexual contacts were part of his spiritual rituals.”
He faces nine counts of sexual assaults and sexual penetration.
According to police, Nanda carried out sexual assaults on his female clients in Torrance and Santa Clarita.
It has been found out that he was investigated for similar offences in 2005 by the Los Angeles Police Department .
Nanda has been released on $100,000 bail till court proceedings start against him.
