BRAMPTON: Yet another Indo-Canadian Punjabi driver has been nabbed smuggling a huge amount of cocaine into Canada.

This time it is Gurdeep Singh Mangat, 46, of Brampton who has been arrested  for smuggling about 83 kg of cocaine from the US into Canada.

Mangat was arrested on August 9 when he drove his commercial truck into Canada at the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward, Ontario.

He was referred for a secondary inspection. 

During the examination, officers of the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) discovered and seized approximately 83 kg of cocaine from his truck.

The CBSA arrested Mangat and transferred him and the seized cocaine to the custody of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officers at Windsor.

Mangat has been charged with: 

– Importing banned drug in violation of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

– Possessing banned drug for the purpose of trafficking.

He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on August 19.

The RCMP says the investigation against Mangat continues.
