TORONTO: An elderly Punjab man from Brampton has been charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

Rajinder Raj, a 71-year-old music school instructor, reportedly sexually assaulted the teenaged girl when she was taking music lessons at a residence in Brampton city. It is not known whether the girl was assaulted by the man at his own residence.

Peel police said the girl did not suffer any physical injuries.

The accused was arrested on July 6 and charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation.

He will appear in court at a later date.

Police asked anyone with any information on this or any similar incident to contact investigators at the Special Victims Unit at 905-453-2121, extension 3460.

“This investigation remains ongoing, and investigators believe that there may be additional victims,” police said.

Brampton, a city of about 700,000 people on the outskirts of Toronto, is home to the largest concentration of Indians – mostly Punjabis – in Canada.
