BRAMPTON: Peel Police have busted an Indo-Canadian criminal gang involved in theft of tractors, cargo trailers and load cargoes in GTA and throughout southern Ontario.

Dharwant Gill, 39, Ravneet Brar, 25, and Devesh Pal, 23, have been arrested and many stolen properties recovered from them.

According to police, the suspects would steal tractors and empty cargo trailers and then go to various places – logistic companies, freight forwarders and commercial properties. The stolen vehicles were used to remove loaded cargo trailers at these places.

The suspects would hide the stolen tractors and trailers in storage facilities throughout the Greater Toronto Area until these could be sold to buyers. Many of the stolen items would end up in food markets, liquidators and dollar stores, where unsuspecting consumers would purchase the illegally obtained items.

On October 2, police raided and arrested the three suspects from their residences in Brampton.

Police also recovered 20 stolen cargo loads, tractors and trailers, with an approximate value of $4 million from the three suspects.

Police returned many of the stolen goods to their owners.

Dharwant Gill has been charged with possessing 22 counts of stolen property and 20 counts of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking.

Ravneet Brar has been charged with possessing 23 counts of stolen property and 21 counts of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking.

Devesh Pal has been charged with possessing 7 counts of stolen property and 2 counts of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking.
