Bussa Krishna, an Indian farmer who is a diehard fan of Donald J Trump, celebrated the birthday of the US President on June 14 by installing his life-size statue and consecrating it with Hindu rituals.

Krishna, who lives at Konney Village in Janagam in Telangana state, was quoted as saying by Ruptly video agency, “I spent around 2,000 US dollars on the statue. I built it on my own money. I asked my parents and told them that I like Trump very much and conveyed my wish of installing the Trump statue on his birthday. I told them even if I die I want to die as a Trump fan. My parents then agreed to support me.”

He also performed the Hindu purification ceremony of ‘abhishek’ of Trump’s statue with milk and then prayed before it.

Wishing Trump a happy birthday, Krishna said he would now offer prayers to Trump’s statue everyday, according ANI.

A video from last year also showed Krishna praying to Trump.

“He [Trump] is my god,” the Telangana farmer said in the video.

“I pray to Trump and perform rituals for him like we do for all of our other gods.”

The Hindustan Times newspaper has quoted Krishna as saying that he started worshipping Trump after the killing of software engineer  Srinivas Kuchibhotla from his Telangana state in the US by a Navy veteran at a Kansas bar in February 2017.

“I was very much pained at the incident. I thought the only way the US President and his people could understand the greatness of Indians is to display our love and affection towards them. That is why I started worshipping Trump with a hope that the prayers would reach him one day,” Krishna told the newspaper.

Trump has quite a following among India’s right-wing. During his election campaign, some right-wing groups had organized religious ceremonies for his victory.
